100% Raw Foodist – Day 22

Ahh, finally the weekend! I always look forward to the weekends because it’s finally a time to relax, enjoy having Katrina home and I get a ton of super yummy foods! AWESOME!

Today is day 22 of the raw diet. You know, I kinda sorta totally have been wanting to cheat and eat some cooked food solely for the purpose to feel the difference. I’ve been feeling so good for a while now that I think I have forgotten how it felt to just eat cooked foods. It’s bizarre. I think I’m really getting used to this good feeling all the time that I sort of feel like I’m taking it for granted. I’ve forgotten the constant feeling of, “Arrrgghhh!!! Why’d I eat that?!?! My stomach REALLY HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’M NEVER DOING THIS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!” I remember saying this all the time, pretty much on a daily basis.

Nowadays, though, I just float right on through the day. Not once have I said, “Agghh.. I don’t feel good now…” It’s amazing. So, just because I love torture, I was playing with the idea of eating a cooked dish after the 30 days are over so I can come and record why I don’t eat cooked foods anymore. Maybe it’s not a good idea, but how can you really appreciate the greatness if you’re great ALL THE TIME? I’m getting too used to it now. I need a little reminder.

Maybe. I might be all talk because when it comes down to it… I don’t want to feel horrible again. I remember it enough. But… Ohh, I don’t know. I probably won’t. I like to think about it sometimes because it blows my mind how different I feel that I think I need to be reminded of the old times, but then I sort of remember and realize I really would rather not feel that way ever again. Which is why I’m currently on a raw diet. So, there. :)

Anyway, let’s get going to the yummy foods I enjoyed today!

BREAKFAST

I used Organic Raw Maca Powder for the first time today! It was good, but it is definitely a taste I need to get used to. I’m very used to just drinking very simple green smoothies. All I can ever taste is the fresh fruits and greens. Powders are new to me. Maca has a kind of… butterscotch like taste to it. It’s good.

Green Smoothie Recipe

  • 2 bok choy leaves
  • 3 leaves of red leaf lettuce
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 gala apple
  • 1 rainbow pear
  • 2 valencia oranges
  • 1 tablespoon flax
  • 1 tablespoon maca
  • 1 teaspoon chia
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cup water

Just put all of the ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth. AWESOMEEEE!!! Hope you enjoy it.

BEFORE LUNCH SNACK

I had my green smoothie pretty early in the day, so I got a little hungry before it was actually lunch time. There is nothing better that a good ole Raw Revolution Organic Live Food Bar – Spirulina and Cashew Flavor. YUMMMMMMMMMMMM…

Very delicious. 100% Raw. Perfect for when you want a raw food fast food snack. Besides these bars, all of my meals are prepared at home with only the freshest produce available. So, I find it OK to eat one of these bars every once in a while. I don’t make a daily habit of it or anything, but once in a while it’s fine for me. They’re also wickedly delicious. YUM YUM YUM YUM…..

LUNCH

Ahhh, so we’re still on the kelp noodle kick. We didn’t try to go for a cheesy recipe because we forgot, but Katrina imitated her personal cooked pasta variate. I’m more of a thick sauce kind of girl, but Katrina likes the simple mostly olive oil type of pasta. I wasn’t complaining, though, and ate my bowl of pasta with joy. Delicioso!

Katrina’s Olive Oil Kelp Noodles

  • 6 oz kelp noodles (1/2 package)
  • 3/4 cup almonds (chopped)
  • 1/2 ripe avocado (cut into thin strips)
  • 1 clove garlic (finely chopped/minced)
  • 3/4 cup salad mix (chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon tamari
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil

Directions: Set all the ingredients in a pan on the stove and set on the LOWEST SETTING (where you can still touch the pan). We are not cooking this dish, but only slightly warming it. Just stir until warm and serve.

I personally prefer a thick sauce recipe, but I’m just a fatty at heart. :D The noodles do taste a LOT better warm, but ya know… since being a raw foodist I’ve eaten everything pretty much on the cooler side. The other few times we made a dish with the kelp noodles, I didn’t want to wait and just ate them cold and they tasted pretty darn good to me. It was actually a little odd eating something warm. Bizarre. I wasn’t used to warm food anymore. I might actually prefer cold foods. It could also be that it was a pretty hot day in Las Vegas today… so cold is better. :D

DINNER

I wasn’t too hungry by the time dinner rolled along, so we had a little ice cream treat and called it a day. Katrina wanted to make a banana flavored ice cream and I thought it’d be fantastic to make a Chunky Monkey imitation so we added cacao nibs and some walnuts. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Raw Chunky Monkey Ice Cream Recipe

  • 3 frozen bananas
  • 2 tablespoons cacao nibs
  • 3 tablespoons chopped raw walnuts (optional)

Directions: Put the bananas in a food processor using the S blade and process until almost creamy. Put in the cacao nibs and walnuts. Pulse until awesome. :D

OK… so I really have a bad habit of not waiting long enough for something to warm up or get cold… so I ate it way before the bananas were even frozen. It was cool enough and I really wanted it. I would highly suggest you wait until the bananas are COMPLETELY FROZEN. Mine were mushy but still good. I will perfect it on tomorrow’s post. The bananas were gooey. Hahaha… but I still enjoyed it and ate it right up. Nothing better than some raw ice cream on a hot Las Vegas day!

Hope y’all have enjoyed today’s recipes. Keep rawkin and have a wonderful, fantastic, awesome, joyful, exuberant day!

Much love!
